IZI Medical is a leading innovator, manufacturer, and distributor of quality medical devices, IZI Medical provides the continuity that our healthcare partners need to succeed. Based in Owings Mills, Maryland, just outside Baltimore, IZI is a leading developer, manufacturer, and provider of high-quality medical consumable devices used in interventional radiology and oncology, radiation therapy, neuro-spine, and image guided surgery procedures. Over the last three decades, IZI has built a diverse portfolio of products backed by strong intellectual property and currently sells to more than 1,000 domestic customers as well as internationally across 25 countries.
IZI Medical Products was founded in 1994 by a neuroradiologist and radiation oncologist with the goal to develop and manufacture medical devices that increase procedural accuracy and decrease procedural time. In the following decade, IZI successfully developed and commercially launched over 10 of these innovative products, primarily in image guided surgery and radiation therapy.
Today, IZI’s portfolio has expanded significantly and is largely focused on diagnostic and therapeutic interventional solutions. Areas of increased focus are soft tissue biopsy, breast localization, vertebral augmentation, and vertebroplasty, among others.

Our Management Team
Chief Executive Officer
Greg Groenke has been president and CEO of IZI Medical Products since October 2012. He has more than 25 years of experience in the medical device industry. Prior to IZI Medical, Greg served as Senior Vice President/General Manager of Environmental Technologies at Cardinal Health for 17 years where he was responsible for a $650 million global business. He has extensive experience in medical device product development and was responsible for business development earlier in his career with Cardinal Health. Prior to joining Cardinal Health, Greg worked for Johnson and Johnson’s Ethicon Endo – Surgery Business. Greg earned his M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and a B.M.E. from the University of Minnesota.
Chief Financial Officer
Mike Shaffer serves as IZI’s Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for leading IZI’s Financial and Strategic operations, as well as its Corporative Development and Acquisition Integration functions. Mike joined IZI following its partnership with Shore Capital Partners. Previously, Mike was CFO for The Stepping Stones, a behavioral health business, and served as head of Corporate Development for Landauer, a medical products and services company. Additionally, Mike spent several years in investment banking, and provided mergers and acquisitions advisory services for middle-market companies. Mike earned his M.B.A from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and received a B.A in Political Science from Northwestern University.
Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development
Jovie Soriano serves as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development and is responsible for OEM and strategic partnerships. He also served as IZI’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing from 2005 to 2011 before assuming the role of President and CEO of PrecinoMed Inc. In 2013, Jovie rejoined IZI as part of its acquisition of PrecinoMed. He has over 14 years of experience in medical devices along with various leadership roles of increasing responsibility in sales and marketing with Tyco International and Gateway Computers. Jovie earned his B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Towson University.
Vice President of Operations and HR
Bruce Krangel serves as IZI’s Vice President of Human Resources and Operations and is responsible for all HR functions and operations including supply chain, manufacturing, I.T., and maintenance. Prior to IZI he was the Vice President of HR for the Lighting Science Group and HR Manager at Harte Hanks where he was responsible for over 300 employees, inside sales, and manufacturing. Bruce earned his M.S in Human Resource Management from Villanova University and received his B.A. in Sociology from Temple University.
Vice President of Sales
Tony Rukab serves as IZI’s Vice President of U.S. Sales. Tony brings almost 30 years of medical device sales leadership to IZI Medical. Prior to IZI, Tony was Senior Manager for Strategic Sales at Stryker where he also supported pre- and post-merger integration of Becton Dickinson’s Vertebral Augmentation business into Stryker IVS. Prior to Stryker, Tony held various roles of increasing responsibility at CareFusion, Cardinal Health, and Allegiance Healthcare. Tony earned his B.S.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Florida.
Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs
Qiang Cao serves as IZI’s Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs and is responsible for all quality compliance including supplier, manufacturing, and product quality, along with global regulatory policy development. He joined IZI in April of 2012 after serving leadership roles at Becton Dickinson, Hemagen Diagnostics, and Solectron. Qiang brings over 20 years of quality and regulatory experience to IZI. Qiang earned an M.B.A from The Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.S. in Biochemical Engineering from the East China University of Science and Technology.
