IZI Medical Products, a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of medical devices used across a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, has acquired AprioMed, a company based in Uppsala, Sweden.

AprioMed, a company that designs, manufactures, and distributes medical devices used for bone biopsies, enables IZI Medical to continue to expand its global interventional radiology portfolio.

“Many physicians started using our technologies in medical school and have continued to do so throughout their careers. AprioMed is a natural fit for IZI Medical as their minimally invasive biopsy products are highly complementary to ours,” said Greg Groenke, president, IZI Medical Products.

An aging population is driving an increase in a range of conditions, including cancer. The bolt-on acquisition is highly aligned to IZI Medical’s purpose to enable better diagnosis and treatment of patients. The acquisition expands IZI’s offerings for minimally invasive procedures, complementing its products used to diagnose and treat cancer.
